Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Manawa is a common-law trust and governing body (PSGE) mandated to manage the affairs on behalf of Ngāti Manawa. The following structure identifies the subsidiary companies that made up the Ngāti Manawa group of companies.

Kani Edwards

Kani is currently the Chairman of the Rūnanga - born and bred in Murupara Kani grew up in and around the surroundings of Rangitahi Marae.

Kani was in the New Zealand Police for 19 years before becoming a Housing Service Manager for Housing New Zealand. Kani then moved onto Crown Forest Rental Trust where he became the Regional Team Manager for the CNI, Tamaki Makaurau, Te Moana Nui a Toi and Hauraki rohe.

Before becoming an elected Trustee on the Rūnanga, Kani had a 6-month secondment with the Rūnanga where he oversaw the Commercial arm of the comprehensive settlement for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Manawa and a director in the Tukia Investment Group which was the commercial arm of CNI Holdings.
